Cinematic Ontologies

In a series of new paintings, Mark Soltero sustains the visual conversations that continue to inform his work through marks, gestures and organic shapes and structures, as compelling in their detail as they are evocative of a larger imagined world to which they appear to belong.  Fundamental to Cinematic Ontologies is Soltero’s varied attitude to drawing; hand-drawn, computer generated, traced, stenciled and more, making works that draw audiences in and are challenging to look at.  Mark Soltero, Cinematic Ontologies, Chambers Gallery, 80 Durham St, Sydenham, 1 – 18 March
