More than twenty invited artists make up the group exhibition Summer Show #5, opened 30 November at Arts in Oxford.  It is the gallery’s biggest exhibition of the year, schedule in time for Christmas and summer break, featuring artists from Canterbury and throughout New Zealand.

Among the highlights are Dunedin-born artist Lorna Allan’s landscape paintings.  These works acknowledge the small detail of nature but, as she observes, are also about the ‘big picture, the feeling that you can see forever or travel through a scene, enjoying the serenity separated from the stresses of everyday life, just breathing the fresh air.’
