An exhibition from the collection of art historian and curator Avenal McKinnon (1949-2021), the  founder and director of Wellington’s New Zealand Portrait Gallery Te Pūkenga Whakaata.  Touring throughout Aotearora over the past 18 months, Portraits from the Collection is a treasure of an exhibition, giving attention to 23 portrait paintings from Avenal’s collection.  Be prepared to be surprised, the exhibition including portraits by Rudi Gopas, Rita Angus, Frances Hodgkins, Leo Bensemann and Wayne Youle.  Portraits from the Collection of Avenal McKinnon is curated by Helen Kedgley.
