Opening in September, the Miniature Gallery has seen the welcome return of an exhibition space in Lyttelton.   It currently features small artworks by 30 artists, responding to objects from the Lyttelton Museum’s collection.  The exhibition has been curated by Holly Cunningham and Sarah Amazinnia and the new gallery space is a pop up project over the period of building the new Lyttelton Museum.  Cunningham comments that the gallery is part of Ka Awatea, ‘a time of awakening, welcoming people to the site where Lyttelton Museum will be built. For the gallery we wanted to open conversations between historic artefacts and contemporary works activating the site and there are outdoor installations and programmes, including full moon openings with music and kai from Rāpaki marae.’
